This is an informal, supportive, group meditation for everyone (beginner to experienced). It is based on the interrelated Buddhist meditation practices of Samatha (serenity) and Vipassana (insight). Together, these practices intertwine to create harmony, balance, and interconnection between the heart and mind. Using sustained focus on the breath, one learns to investigate and observe thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations as they arise in each moment. This process helps to sharpen awareness and calm the mind and heart. 40 minute sit, followed by discussion (guidance will be provided for entering the meditation sitting).
There is a $2.00 fee for use of the studio. Beginners may wish to come 15 minutes early for assistance with settling in seated posture and to have questions answered before the sit. Everyone is welcome!
